International Relations studies how states and other global actors interact through diplomacy, trade, conflict, and cooperation, drawing on political science, history, economics, and law to explain patterns in world politics. Coursework covers international political theory, international law, foreign policy analysis, and global political economy, along with area-specific study of particular regions and their role in international affairs. Students develop the ability to analyze current events through theoretical frameworks, examining how power, institutions, and ideas shape decisions made by governments and international organizations. Research skills are emphasized, with students learning to write policy briefs, analytical essays, and research papers that require synthesizing information from multiple sources. Seminar discussions encourage debate over competing interpretations of international events, helping students build the argumentation skills valued in diplomatic, policy, and research careers. Coursework on international organizations, treaties, and diplomatic practice gives students practical grounding in how international cooperation is actually conducted, alongside the more theoretical study of international systems. Many programs also address security studies and conflict resolution, areas central to understanding contemporary global challenges. Graduates pursue careers in government foreign services, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, think tanks, journalism, and international business, and the degree provides a strong foundation for graduate study in law, public policy, or regional studies. This bachelor's program is delivered in English over 4 years at Karadeniz Technical University in Trabzon, Turkey. English-medium instruction matches the working language of most international organizations and diplomatic settings, giving graduates a practical advantage when pursuing international careers. The four-year program builds from foundational political science and history courses toward specialized coursework in the later years of study.
