Introduction to Bakery

The UCOL STAR Introduction to Bakery course is designed for secondary school learners who have a passion for baking. This one-week program provides an overview of baking goods in a commercial environment, allowing students to explore their interest in the culinary arts. Ideal for those who thrive in hands-on learning settings, this course is perfect for students looking to gain practical skills while still in school.

During the course, students will learn to prepare and bake basic breads, earning 4 credits at Level 2. The curriculum is designed to provide foundational skills in baking, which can be further developed through additional studies in hospitality or cookery. The fully equipped commercial kitchen at UCOL ensures that students gain real-world experience in a professional setting.

Upon successful completion, students can pursue further studies such as the Academy Hospitality Programme or the New Zealand Certificate in Cookery.
