About Master in MFA Advanced Theatre Practice

Tuition is 26,370 GBP per year, while admissions are rolling.

MFA Advanced Theatre Practice is a two-year, full-time interdisciplinary theatre-making degree (240 credits) in which students practise and study directing, performing or scenography within a collaborative, experimental laboratory. Year 1 is shared with the MA cohort; Year 2 deepens independent professional development beyond Central while retaining tutor guidance and contact. An MFA top-up year is available for holders of an existing MA in this subject.

    • Year 1: intensive workshop-based practice, research, and launching a company or new-work approach across three terms
    • Year 2: independent professional development and attachments with external artists/companies, plus a more developed independent Sustained Independent Project
    • Alumni include founders of Shunt, 1927 and Complicite-associated companies, and multiple Olivier and Total Theatre Award winners; the first two Central PhD graduates came from this course
