Two of the largest sending markets layer their own pre-departure requirements on top: Indian citizens and Overseas Citizens of India intending to get a primary medical qualification abroad must qualify NEET-UG, which the Indian government treats as the required Eligibility Certificate once admission criteria are otherwise met, and Pakistani students must score at least 50% on PM&DC's Medical and Dental College Admission Test and hold a PM&DC Student Registration Certificate before accepting a place at any foreign medical institution.

Sechenov lists General Medicine in both Russian and English, and names it among its English-taught 2026/2027 programs — while noting other profiles of the same broader program are Russian-only. Does a Russia medical degree qualify?
NMC's FAQ for the Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations, 2021 states that covered foreign medical graduates need at least 54 months of study and a 12-month internship in the same foreign institution. It distinguishes the internship from clinical posting during the course and also describes a supervised internship in India after qualification. This is a home-country rule, not confirmation that any Russian programme meets it.

The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination, also called the Screening Test, is the exam India's National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences runs for citizens who completed a primary medical qualification abroad, Russia included. The National Medical Commission's Screening Test Regulations require it before a foreign-trained graduate can get provisional or permanent registration to practice in India, and the government describes it as the standard screening step for that entire cohort, not something specific to any one destination country.

Can I practice medicine in India after my graduation?

Only after separately clearing India's licensing chain for foreign medical graduates — graduating from a Russian medical school doesn't do it automatically.
