Computer Engineering combines principles from computer science and electrical engineering to study the design, development, and integration of computer hardware and software systems. Students typically cover programming, data structures and algorithms, computer architecture, operating systems, digital logic design, and networks, building both theoretical understanding and hands-on technical skills. Coursework often includes topics such as embedded systems, database systems, software engineering practices, and computer security, along with mathematics courses like calculus, linear algebra, and discrete mathematics that underpin engineering analysis. Laboratory work and project-based assignments are common, giving students experience designing and testing systems that integrate hardware and software components. The field prepares graduates for careers in software development, systems engineering, hardware design, network administration, and technology consulting, among other paths in the fast-growing technology sector. Many graduates go on to work at technology companies, in telecommunications, or in research and development roles, while others pursue graduate study in computer science or engineering specializations. This bachelor's program is delivered in English over 4 years at Istanbul Technical University, one of the well-established technical universities in İstanbul, Turkey. Studying in İstanbul offers access to a substantial technology and engineering industry base within the country. The program is designed to give students a broad technical foundation applicable across software and hardware engineering roles.
