Computer Engineering sits at the intersection of computer science and electrical engineering, covering how computing systems are designed, built, and programmed from the hardware level up through software and networks. Typical coursework includes programming fundamentals, data structures and algorithms, digital logic and computer architecture, operating systems, databases, and computer networks, along with mathematics and physics courses that support the engineering curriculum. Later years usually introduce more specialized topics such as software engineering practices, embedded systems, and elective areas like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, or mobile and web development, often culminating in a capstone or graduation project. The field trains students to think systematically about both hardware constraints and software design, a combination that opens paths into software development, systems and network engineering, hardware design, IT infrastructure, and further graduate study in computing. This bachelor's program runs for 4 years and is taught in English at Atatürk University, located in Erzurum, Turkey.
