Kyrgyzstan is the cheapest destination in this guide — and, right now, the one where checking your university's status matters most. On 4 June 2026 the Ministry of Health published the results of its first state accreditation of medical education providers. Thirty-four organizations teach medicine in the country, twelve state and twenty-two private. Three were exempt from the review by law. Twenty-four applied: four were accredited for six years, seven for one year, and thirteen did not pass. Seven more did not take part at all. Osh State University, in the fee table below, is one of the four accredited for six years; Kyrgyz State Medical Academy is one of the three the law exempted from the review. Who can apply

At the two schools listed below, entry is document-based: school-leaving certificates with the sciences, a passport, and the university's own application process — Kyrgyz State Medical Academy runs year-round intake through its online admission system, while Osh State University's International Medical Faculty publishes an autumn deadline in its admission regulation. Neither school's published material names an English test requirement; that absence is what their pages say today, not a promise it will stay that way, so confirm directly when you apply.

Your home country's rules still ride on top. Indian citizens and OCIs need a qualifying NEET-UG result for any primary medical qualification obtained abroad, and Pakistani applicants need PM&DC's MDCAT threshold and Student Registration Certificate before accepting a place. Neither is a Kyrgyz rule — both apply to you because of your passport, at every destination in this guide.

NMC's Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations FAQ describes a minimum 54-month course, a 12-month internship in the same foreign medical institution, and English as the medium of instruction among the requirements for a foreign medical qualification.

What to weigh

Read the price against the situation. Kyrgyz State Medical Academy's published schedule for far-abroad students starts at $3,500 a year and steps down in later years; Osh State University's 2026-27 order prices year one at 325,000 som. Those are genuinely low, printed, official numbers. But the 2026 review shows why cheap alone is the wrong filter: most of the market's schools just lost the right to admit new international students, and students at barred schools are living through forced transfers mid-degree. The two-minute check of the ministry's accreditation list is worth more than any fee comparison on this page.

The copycat-site problem is as bad here as anywhere in Central Asia — both universities in our table have known imitation domains run by recruiters. Read fees only on the university's own site, and treat any figure that arrives via a chat message as unverified. Is MBBS in Kyrgyzstan safe to enroll in right now?

At an accredited school, the published rules are what they always were; at anything else, you're taking a documented risk. Of the twenty-four organizations that applied in the ministry's June 2026 review, four were accredited for six years, seven for one year and thirteen did not pass. Verify your specific school's current status on the ministry's published list before paying anything, and don't accept an agent's screenshot as proof.

How much does MBBS in Kyrgyzstan cost?

From the two accredited universities' own published documents: Kyrgyz State Medical Academy prints its 2026-27 English-medium rate in som, 306,100 for years one and two and 288,600 for years three and four, with a footnote converting them to 3,500 and 3,300 US dollars at the National Bank rate of 87.45 som fixed on 29 May 2026; year five is footnoted at 3,000 dollars. The schedule we read is the one for far-abroad citizens transferred from other universities, so ask the academy for the first-entry schedule in writing. Osh State University's International Medical Faculty prices year one at 325,000 Kyrgyz som in its 2026-27 order. Both figures are as printed; both schools publish only what they publish — Osh's order covers year one, not the full run, so ask for the later-year schedule in writing.

Why is it so much cheaper than everywhere else?

Public pricing in a low-cost economy, not a trick — the state medical academy's fees are set and published like any other public institution's. The honest caveat isn't hidden fees, it's the market around the universities: a low sticker price attracts high agent volume, and the 2026 accreditation review shows how much of that volume was flowing to schools that no longer meet the state's own standard.

Is the WDOMS or ECFMG listing enough to trust a school?

No — and Kyrgyzstan in 2026 is the clearest example of why. International directory listings and the state's own accreditation decisions run on different tracks, and a school can still appear in a directory after the Ministry of Health has recorded that it did not pass state accreditation. Check the ministry's current list first; treat directory badges as historical information, not clearance.

Is NEET required for Kyrgyzstan?

Not by the two accredited universities' published admission processes — but that answers the wrong question if you're Indian. India requires NEET-UG of its own citizens and OCIs for any primary medical qualification obtained abroad after May 2018, so an admission letter without NEET doesn't change what the NMC will ask when you come home. Qualify NEET first if practicing in India is the plan.

Can I transfer if something happens to my university?

The 2026 review triggered exactly that machinery: students from barred schools are being moved to accredited ones under ministry supervision. It works, but nobody should plan around it — transferred students lose time, choice and sometimes credits. Starting at a fully accredited school is the version of this story you want.
