MBBS Abroad Explained

The Audited MBBS Shortlist: 40 Programmes Checked Against Official Pages

We took 40 direct-entry medicine programmes across 14 destinations and checked each one by hand against the university's own website — the fee page and the programme page, nothing second-hand. What you see below is what those pages actually print, in the university's own currency, with the fee year attached.

The audit cut both ways. Where our own listing was stale, we corrected it the same day — including two Turkish universities whose printed rates had roughly tripled, an Irish medical school our listing understated by a factor of three, and two records that had the wrong currency entirely.

  • 27 programmes with a clean, printed international fee — linked to both the official source and the programme listing.
  • 10 programmes where the university publishes no usable international fee. We say so instead of inventing one.
  • Two German programmes charge no tuition at all — a fact our own records previously got wrong.
  • Every figure is as printed: original currency, original billing basis, fee year attached.

How to read the tables

Every fee is quoted exactly as the university prints it: its own currency, its own billing basis, and the fee year the page names. We did not convert anything to dollars and we did not turn semester or whole-programme figures into yearly ones. Those two habits are where most MBBS fee tables on the internet go wrong.

That means the rows are not directly comparable at a glance — a Malaysian whole-programme total sits next to a Chinese per-year rate. That is the honest version. When you compare two programmes, open both official links and read the billing basis before you compare numbers.

What the audit changed on this site

Nineteen of our own listings were corrected as a direct result of this audit. The worst cases: University College Dublin's non-EU medicine rate is EUR 63,890 a year where our record said 20,000 dollars; Ataturk University's English-medicine fee is 354,000 lira where we carried 32,500; two records priced in the wrong currency entirely (a Malaysian programme in euros, a Russian one in dollars); and two German programmes that charge no tuition at all were carrying invented dollar figures.

Fees on this page can still go stale — universities publish new tables every cycle. The difference is that every row here names its fee year and links the page we read, so you can check whether the figure still stands in about thirty seconds.

What we did not verify

Being clear about the edges matters as much as the figures. We did not verify recognition or licensing claims (whether a given degree leads to registration in your country — that depends on your regulator, not the university's marketing). We did not verify hostel, food, or 'package' costs of any kind. We did not verify next year's fees anywhere — only the currently printed table. And where a deadline was not printed with a current date on an official page, we left it out rather than carrying last year's.

Ten programmes below defeated the audit entirely: their universities publish no usable international fee. Several of those fees circulate widely on agent sites anyway. Treat every such figure as marketing until the university prints it.

Where the university publishes no usable international fee

This table is the part agents never show you. For these programmes the university's own pages either print no international tuition at all, gate it behind an enquiry form, price it by income bands, or contradict our listing in a way we could not resolve from official pages.

A price you can only get from an agent is not a published price. If a figure for one of these programmes appears anywhere — including on our own listing — treat it as unconfirmed until the university prints it.

How to verify this page

  • Open the official link on any row and confirm the printed figure matches before relying on it.
  • Check the billing basis — per year, per semester, or whole programme — before comparing two rows.
  • If a figure you were quoted elsewhere is not on the university's own page, treat it as unconfirmed.

Frequently asked questions

Why don't you convert everything to dollars?
Because the university doesn't bill you in dollars. A converted figure inherits the exchange rate of the day someone converted it, then quietly goes wrong as rates move — which is exactly how several of the stale figures this audit corrected came to exist. The printed amount in the printed currency is the only number that stays true.
An agent quoted me a much lower fee for one of these universities. Who is right?
Read the official link in the row. If the agent's figure isn't on the university's own page, ask them to show you where the university prints it. For the ten programmes in the last table there is no printed international fee at all — any figure you were quoted for those came from somewhere other than the university.
Are cheap fees a red flag?
Not by themselves — several reputable public universities in this list are genuinely inexpensive because their governments regulate fees, and two German programmes charge no tuition at all. The red flag is a fee nobody will show you in writing on a university page.
Will these figures still be right next year?
Some won't — that's how fees work. Each row names its fee year and links the exact page we read, so you can re-check any figure in half a minute. If you spot a row the university has since changed, the official link is the truth.
Why isn't my target university in this list?
The 40 came from our catalogue's direct-entry medicine pool, balanced across the corridors students actually ask about, weighted toward programmes people view most. It's an audit sample, not a ranking — a university being absent says nothing about its quality.
